(From November 2023)
Yesterday I was preparing to lead worship and I was praying and listening for God’s voice to hear what He was saying. I was frustrated because there was loud noise nearby and I wanted for it to be quiet.
And God told me “stillness does not depend on your surroundings.”
I thought, “ok cool”.
And as I was waiting listening in prayer, it was so silent it almost felt like God was sitting back with His arms crossed waiting for me to realize He had just given me the word.
Once I finally realized it He them expounded upon it:
“Paul and Silas worshipped in prison and their worship shook the prison walls. Your stillness should change your surroundings, not the other way around.”
This gave me a lot to think about.
We worship in spirit and in truth. Although there are prophetic atmospheres and environments, holy ground is formed by the posture of our hearts in a longing for intimacy with God. It’s not our efforts, but a response in faith to His loving call.
He is always with you.
Take some time to be with Him.
“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him…”
Psalm 37:5-7a ESV
